11.22.09.
Hey you there!
D.elsanti seems to have gotten into a little funk, roleplaying going wayyy down. So, everyone check out the main plot so we can get it going and get D.elsanti back in business.

Also, I created a new skin for everyone, so maybe that'll get our muse back up a bit! The competition that Xan has created is still on, so check that out on the General Board.
Thanks everyone.

The massive silver female stood near her sisters, feeling a yawn brewing within her jaws. They were supposed to be having some sort of training session, but so far the massive female had yet to be chosen for a spar. She sat off to one side with her younger brother stretched out behind her. The others every so often glared in his direction and they spotted the ivory of her own fangs as she glared right back. He wasn't hurting anyone by resting there.

No one but her would know that he was keenly watching how the others battled, remembering how things worked and how things did not. His look would match her own, she was certain of it. Aloof, bored. Even with the fight before them, they only needed to turn their head a fraction or two to keep an eye on the whole field.

Rumors had made it all the way to them about the King's death. Whether this was being put together to prepare them for war or it was just another little sparring match, Cyan was not certain, but it was at least something to deal with the monotony she felt herself feeling right then. She arched her back and worked a kink out of it, letting her sooty ears flick once.

The snow on the ground was proving to be an added trouble to those before them. not exactly something that she was unused to. The winter was the nicest time for her, as her pelt was thicker than the average wolf's. Used to far colder climates due to her ancestor staying far from others. She had fought in all situations they could think of, not always victorious no, but still survived. That likely counted for something.

She glanced back at her brother once, before looking forward again.

It was yet another time when he wished that his sister would not be standing there in defiance of everyone else. His ears turned backward slowly and he felt himself sigh. There was no arguing with the silver she-wolf. She was more stubborn than anyone else he'd ever known. So he stayed stretched out behind her, keeping his large gangly body as small as he could. His dark gold eyes turned slowly back and forth, watching the others around them as much as he was watching the ones battling.

Some seemed not to mind he was there. Others glared openly. A few seemed to look at him with a curiosity that made him want to burrow down into the snow and hide. He had heard stories of what the slaves were used for in this pack. He did not mind hunting for others, that was not a bad thing, but he got all nervous feeling in his stomach.

He put that out of his mind and let his attention focus on the others in front of him. His head was down on his paws and he had situated his head so that he had to only turn his eyes a fraction this way or that to watch the others. It was different to watch females fight, he realized very quickly. While the general style was the same, the way they moved was different.

Faolan could not remember ever fighting with a girl. It had always been other males he had fought with. His plush tail curled around his hind legs and he stretched his paws out forward before settling further into the snow. The cold did not bother him, just like his sister. It simply was some relief on his thick pelt.

He really hoped that this was not going to be really long. Laying here and acting bored was only going to last so long before he was just bored, bored.

This sort of sloppyness is inexcusible. The female surpressed a sigh as she continued to watch the practice session, one ear turned back in irritation. The two females currently sparring was Eirian, a more experienced female she remembered from her youth days before she left the pack, and another younger female she didn't know the name of. Saskia's gaze narrowed, observing every move the two sparring wolves made. Briefly, she rolled her eyes before shouting, "Watch your footing!"

Every flaw in the crew members' fighting styles made her want to scream and release a long stream of profanity. By now everyone had heard the news of the death of the Royal's alpha. As far as she knew, no immediate plans for attack were being set into place by either pack. Still, there was tension in the air, she could feel it, something was brewing on the horizon and they needed to be ready for it.

Again, the younger female slipped on the wet snow that covered the landscape, and the Crew Leader stifled an aggrivated growl. At least finally Eirian pinned her, jaws wrapped securely on her opponents neck, "All right that's all for you two." As soon as she gave the word, Eirian released and went back the the outside of the circle. The young female managed to get to her feet without falling and slunk to the edge as well, ears plastered back as she felt Saskia's gaze on her back.

So far, the practice session had been dull to her. She had allowed the females to spar on volunteer pairings, but so far none of the fights had been able to hold her interest. Of course she observed each scruntenizinly to each, but that was her duty, none made her want to pay attention. It was time to end the fun and games.

Another female went to step forward, but Saskia stopped her, "Hold it." Glancing around the group, her eyes lingered on the large silver female, Cyan. No one had chosen her as a sparring partner yet, she surely would have remembered despite her lathargic interest in the other fights. Ears perked in interest, she studied her.

Cyan appeared to share the same bored expression she'd been wearing, though unlike her she wasn't forced to watch. That is, aside from the times she noticed one of the other crew members glaring in her direction, at which she matched their expression and sent it back ten fold with bared fangs. Of course she also saw the source of these ostricizing looks, the sizeable male laying passively behind her. Yes, she had heard of the female's pet, a favored brother that never left her side and she protected his right to remain there fiercly. Contestant number one.

Moving on down the line, the act of indecisiveness was a show, for their was already a name and a face in her mind. That face had never left hers, wearing an expression unrivaled loathing from the edge of the clearing, far away from the rest. Pausing to meet her eyes, she returned the scornful look with one a satisfaction in the form of an innocent smirk.

Titania had never forgiven her for leaving the pack, not that it would have made a difference in the fate of their mother. The feelings of contempt were only increased when she had snuck back into the pack right under her nose and took over their mother's rank. An amused chuckle shook her shoulders beneath her thick winter coat.

Finally, she spoke up less she keep the crew members waiting in suspense and confusion about her intentions for much longer. "Cyan," she spoke loud and clear as she glanced at the female, "you will be sparring with," again her eyes slid over to fall on her sister's bitter expression, "Titania."

There was damn good reason why the silver female defended her brother so zealously. Of all those who she was running with, he was the only one that she knew would have her back no matter what. He had no other drive or wish to do other than be near her and help her. He had seen what she went through when she was younger. Having an innocent childhood had never been hurts. She was raised up on teeth and claws and she damn sure knew how to use them.

She was not certain why others avoided having her as a sparring partner so much. It perhaps could be because she was the largest, if not one of the largest wolves within the pack. It could also be because she had snapped in the direction of probably ninety percent of the pack at large when they attempted to push her brother from her side.

And there was always the fact that she favored a male over the rest of them.

Not her problem. They had yet to prove to her that she could trust them in any manner.

Her brilliant blue eyes turned toward the Crew Leader when it seemed that she went under her scrutiny. She remained still with that bored expression, regardless of the one returned to her. She was not intimidated. She had come very close to attacking the beta female. She had stood down males who would have torn them to shreds and still lived.

Her eyes turned toward Titiana when the Leader spoke. She was to spar with that one? One dot over her bright eyes rose upward before she rolled her shoulders and stood. She stretched her forepaws forward then leaned over them, stretching out her back legs. Her attention was locked on the other female from the start. She had heard of this one. Seen her a few times. Hot tempered, overzealous. Aggressive more than others.

It would hopefully not be too hard to find a way to use her own troubles against her. Cyan was not perfect by any means, but her bitter feelings didn't go toward all others around her, no. She actually was fairly neutral in her feelings toward her packmates. If they needed her, she would help. If they wished to cause her grief, she'd give it back tenfold.

She strode forward, strides strong and confident. Fighting in snow was not something she was unused to. Where they grew had that harsh climate. Just in her strides, she spread her toes apart and angled her claws downward, gaining stability and grip with those two simple movements.

She was ready. Bring it on.

He really didn't understand it. Why did everyone not like him? He hadn't done a thing to them. Once Cyan strode forward, he could really feel the full extent of the glares upon him. He frowned and glanced around slowly, struggling to keep himself laying as he had been when she had been at his side. He would not let them use him to distract his older sister. Faolan was young, but he was just as tough as she was and he knew how to behave.

He hadn't done a thing except be a guy. The idea was still completely warped.

It had been months now since he had been within this pack. Never once had he truly talked back to a female. He was always quiet, polite and submissive. He listened to others. He did not challenge any of those he came across. He wasn't going to try to overthrow their precious lives.

His ears fell against his skull and he sighed, keeping his eyes forward on his sister. They were not going to intimidate him. If they got too overzealous in trying to hurt him, he wasn't above taking a piece of another to make a point. They had no right to bully him just because he was laying there!

Then again here he had no rights. But he was with his sister. End of the day, that truly was what he focused on. Maybe one day the rest of them would see. Maybe.

((don't know why, but i'm leavig saskia out of this post, will probably put her in the next one though))

The snow around her could have melted from the heat of her temper flaring the moment Saskia had uttered her name. Despite this, Titania didn’t protest, she didn’t talk back, she wasn’t afraid of the fight she was about to enter. If anything she was annoyed beyond belief as she knew that her sister had just been waiting to do something to her since the moment she stepped foot back into the territory. Picking her to fight one of the largest and highly-skilled females in the pack, just the sort of crap she would pull. The angry twitch was still evident on her face as she rose stiffly from the indentation she had created in the snow drift.

Without word or hesitation, Titania plodded her way to the center of the clearing, placing herself directly across from Cyan. If there were any female in the pack that could match her ferocity, Titania knew the being stood in front of her, waiting for the fight to begin. Though she would never admit it, to anyone, she respected the female for her fighting skill. However, she held a stable place on a low shelf in her mind for the male she seemed to be permanently attached to. Titania knew him well, in that she had shot him more than her fair share of glares whenever she saw them, as well as snarling at him had he accidently gotten too close to her.

However, her hatred for all things testosterone had recently taken a back seat to her renewed loathing of her sister since her return. Shooting the smug Crew Leader another fixated stare emphasized with bared fang, she was once again further annoyed when the female simple smiled in response. Saskia always did love getting to her sibling, and each seething look and harsh toned word was like praise of a job well done to her. She loved it, and that sickened Titania. For now though, she turned her attention away from the self-satisfied looks to her opponent. Spreading her legs further out, bracing them into the snow, she stared straight ahead, waiting for the first move.

As soon as Cyan stretched out and moved away, Eirian could see the multiple heads turn, features holding coldness as frigid as the air around them, staring at Faolan as he laid at the side-lines. Her motions were nonchalant, as if nothing was odd about what she was doing as she moved from her own place at the edge of the clearing and shifted over beside the male. When she laid down, placing one forepaw over the other, she didn’t say a word, instead locked her gaze on the group across from her that darkened their looks at her actions. The other females didn’t fear Eirian as they did Titania, and neither was she as intimidating as Cyan, nor as respected as the higher ranks. Still, she was tall and a skilled fighter with a strong personality, and that was enough to make the group look away and turn their attention on the sparring.

Once that was taken care of, the gray female glanced over at Faolan and greeted the young male, “Hey, kid.” Kestral moved over quietly as well, now that the silent standoff was through, but she simply offered a gentle smile and looked towards the center. Eirian looked out as well, taking in the sight of Titania and Cyan facing off in the center with an air of uncertainty in her expression.

Cyan had size going for her, and there was no doubting that she had been trained well, she was an excellent fighter. It was obvious that she was not concerned about the fight. Still, Titania had her own strengths as well. Of course, she was famous for her temper, which seemed have greatly increased since Saskia’s return to the pack. Many had found themselves on the wrong end of this change lately without understanding the cause. She nearly ripped a young trainee a new one just last week. Yet, in spite of her usual harsh attitude, few were aware that it was on the battlefield that she put it to use. Though she lacked social skills, fighting is where Titania shined, and it was doubtful that she would pass an opportunity to prove that to her sister. As hot-tempered as she was every day, it was here where she became focused.

So far, neither had moved from place, Eirian had known Titania long enough to know her reasons. Though it wasn’t as perfected as Saskia, Titania relied on patience and analysis of her opponent, waiting to strike despite the sacrifice. As every crew member in the circle knew, the first move was the most crucial part of the fight. Whatever your first steps were in the fight could either put you at a higher advantage, or be your biggest mistake. The females watched intently, some holding their breath, at this point there were no guarantees. For now, it was anyone’s game.

Temper often was something that could get another killed. It was something that she had learned when she was younger. The ones who were hot headed and started to react without thinking often were the ones that ended up with more wounds, if not a fatal one in the middle of it all. She usually held a defensive stance within a battle, going offensive only when it was at most benefit to her and the situation. Since she was a pup however, they had always been coming at her, so defense became more second nature. Offense relied on her having a reason for it.

Without a reason however she usually was on the defensive. Her brilliant blue eyes were locked on the other female, watching her carefully. She seemed far more focused than Cyan had seen her before, even if there was a definite distraction she could see. The Crew Leader she seemed upset at. Why, the silver she-wolf wasn't certain, but it was something she locked within her mind. It could be useful in some manner in the future for her to know.

She shifted her weight and moved to the side a fraction. It was purposeful. Her eyes remained on the other female, but she exposed her side. Bulk was often thought of as a disadvantage when it came to speed. Anyone who had seen Cyan hunt or fight would know better. She was large boned and heavier than the average female, but the muscles on her body were lean and lanky. Her thick fur only made her seem like she was heavier. She was moving with confidence, almost an arrogance. How she walked made it clear she felt herself superior. Like there was nothing she could do wrong.

She knew better, but most things were all about appearances.

This was a twisted place. Faolan was used to living in a pack where everyone was equals, worked together and got along. The only time that anyone had been cruel to another was if the alpha had made it clear that another required some sort of punishment. The only ones he had ever been unnecessarily cruel to were his oldest sisters. That was the thing that truly set it all apart for the pack, and made them question their leader. It was unfortunate it took so long for them to finally overthrow him. His sire had definitely had a way to make an impression upon others.

He did his best to keep an eye on all those glaring at him from under half-lidded eyes when there was suddenly another body before him. He blinked and opened his eyes fully, gazing at the back of Eirian's head. The same female he had run into before with his sister. He breathed a small sigh of relief, feeling the weight of the other's eyes falling away from him. He set his head down on his paws and stretched out his lanky limbs. "Thank you." The words were barely a whisper from his mouth.

His attention turned toward the other female who moved up, his ears flicking forward before they found a relaxed position. It seemed that perhaps others did not feel the same as it seemed some did. The one facing off against his sister had snapped at him more than once because he got too close accidentally. It was not as if he meant to do something that would bother them. Truly. He didn't understand how some of them thought. He really and truly didn't.

His golden eyes turned back to his sister, watching her move. He didn't know if this female would fall for that trick. He had seen Cyan do it many times when she was younger, luring others into leaping at her so she could turn about with a counter attack. He knew that she wouldn't make the first move. Cyan never did unless she meant to truly be certain another wouldn't be breathing or at least questioning her by the end of it. He tilted his head a fraction and curled his tail about his hind legs.

He wondered why they didn't work on strategies. Pairing up groups to work on ambush strategies and ways to take down another in pairs would be to their advantage. Females were normally smaller than males. Tag teaming would make it easier to guarantee faster wins and less losses. Keeping in pairs would also make it easier to keep others alive. So far he had seen most of those who roamed about here alone rather than paired or grouped up. He didn't dare mention it to anyone save Cyan, but she had yet to pass any of it on. Why he wasn't certain, but anything he said she kept to herself.

This place was so frustrating.
